Backup & Cloud Storage
In addition to running our infrastructure in two Tier 1 data centre's, we also make use of a globally distributed cloud storage network to give us full data redundancy for our backups and live data snapshots.
This means that as a Chapter Eight client, you can take comfort from the fact that our data is backed up to multiple sites around the world every day. We currently run cloud storage nodes in the following locations:
- Houston, USA
- Dallas, USA
- New York, USA
- Hamburg, Germany
- Hong Kong
All of our back ups are stored in encrypted file systems which are only accessible to Chapter Eight's servers and our clients through our backup and recovery tools - which are built into all of our websites.
Using our tools you can take backup copies of your website, the data stored within it, the design, graphics, HTML and even the database structure of your website as regularly as you wish.
We also use our cloud storage network to store a live snapshot of all of emails we manage on behalf of our clients - some 200Gb of emails are globally distributed and made available to our clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition, UK legislation requires that as an Internet Service Provider we keep logs of all communications activity on our systems. We use our cloud storage network to store this information and make it available to law enforcement agencies subject to them providing all necessary and correct documentation to support their request.
